On Wednesday, the Court announced that it had no jurisdiction over the case since it was under the purview of Shari'a law, effectively punting on any attempt to clear up the gray space that exists between Malaysia's two legal systems. The ruling was greeted by shouts of "God is great!" from many in the assembled crowd outside the Palace of Justice in Kuala Lumpur. More secular observers were far less jubilant. "I see this case not just as a question of religious preference but one of a potential dismantling of Malaysia's ... multi-ethnic, multi-religious [character]," warned Malik Imtiaz Sarwar, a member of Joy's legal team, before the decision was announced.Needless to say, we are not amused.
Fuck the mindless, idiotic sheep who cheered the verdict, people who clearly have absolutely no understanding of religious freedoms or even Islam itself and rely on some old bigoted lunatic to "interpret" the Quran and its meanings for them.
Fuck those old bigoted lunatics for misusing their followers' trust to set their own agendas once they realised they have very real power over the nation's governance.
Fuck the spineless government who'd rather pander to these people's every whim and prejudice, even at the cost of international embarrassment.
But fuck it all, really. If these people think that Lina Joy will give up her Christianity just because the Federal Court said so, then they must be pretty fucking stupid.
You can't force someone to remain in one faith no matter how many legislations you write. She'll continue to be a practicing Christian for as long as she decides to.
Even if her own country refuses to recognise it.

haha...u got it right...the more you don't let her have it the more the will retaliate
well, i wonder when people will understand that religion is a personal choice, and not some law you can impose on others.
i don't see how some ppl can cry out "God is Great!" after hearing the verdict. How arrogant are these ppl to think that they actually represent God and that by imposing a humane law unto another, they have done what God wanted them to do?
Seriously, one's relationship with God (regardless of whether that person pray to Allah, Jesus, Buddha, Krishna or even science) is one's personal matter and should NOT be dictated. 'Faith' is believing, not 'forced to believe'.
unfortunately, seeing the way our country is...i don't think the outcome would have been any other way. Plus, I don't think the muslim community at large would be happy if Lina Joy is allowed to change her name and her religion..might result in some sort of instability. As embarrassed as i am to admit it, some ppl (okey malays) are too touche when it comes to certain things, and can be fanatical. In my opinion however, i think when a person stops believing, then that person must have their own concrete reasons why.
*hmmm*
ya what's the point of forcing someone to be a muslim when her/his heart is no longer with the islam faith? s/he may remain a muslim by force (and in name only) but what kind of muslim is that? some people even have the nerve to say that lina joy ought to be punished - all these, force and punishment are man-made!!
well, i believe theres much more thats goin on in the political sphere of things. especially on how this country works. i also believe that the governance of this country is a total mess. i also believe that the government is aware, but they probably still need to play on racial politics for reasons i will not put up here. but there also exists a society of people ( fortunately) in our country there still has evidence of grey matter in their craniums and i really applaud them to come forth to make a statement.
all the government can say is... " dont cause trouble, ...these guys just wanna wreck our country..... dont play on racial politics!!!!" ....
thats really getting old... aND COME ON LA HOW LONG U WANNA FOOL US ALL.
